AfriYAN Tanzania Member Organizations celebrating Day of African Child

by Jun 16, 2022

Day of the African child is a continental day celebration of an African child. It honors those who participated in that day’s Soweto Uprising in 1976. It also raises awareness of the continuing need for improvement of the education provided to African children. On this day, children are reminded to have a voice on all forms of mistreatment happening to them by their guardians or teachers.

On June 16 every year, governments, NGOs, international organizations, and other stakeholders gather to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the full realization of the rights of children in Africa. This year’s theme is “Eliminating Harmful Practices Affecting Children: Progress on Policy & Practice since 2013”

Like other organizations, AfriYAN through its member organization joined to celebrate the Day of African child 2022.

Visioning the Future Life (VFL), visited two primary schools and shared some knowledge with them about what the day was all about. The schools visited were; Mlimani Primary School and Sinde Primary School. Students participated fully in sharing what they knew about their rights and obligations. As Children, they also shared what they encountered in their life at school and at home.
