YOUTH EMPOWERMENT
(Youth Leadership & Participation in decision making Level)

Young people who are equipped with leadership skills, informed of their strength and are willing to stand with their communities as they partake not only in decision making processes but also lending their physical and mental strength to the growth of their communities are the vision behind AfriYAN capacity building program.

In many places in Tanzania young people are having to deal with increased unemployment and extreme poverty, lack of Sexual Health Reproduction education, and many other uncertainties. The Tanzania National Youth Policy defines youth as persons aged between 15 to 35 years, this definition is much broader than that of the United Nations, which is 15 to 24 years. This all is happening at a time when 1 Children and young people between 0 and 17 years make up 50.1% of the population of Tanzania. Young people have a body of experience unique to their situation, and they have views and ideas that derive from this experience. They are social actors with skills and capacities to bring about constructive resolutions to their own problems and it is with such believe AfriYAN has been conducting Leadership and participation in decision making training to adolescent and young people in Tanzania.

AfriYAN aims to promote youth participation at national, regional and international levels; on advocacy of youth policy; negotiating on population development / sustainability, reproductive health (SRHR), youth development.

AfriYAN aims to strengthen accountability and mobilize youth to participate in the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals.
